I grew up in Almaty, Kazakhstan. First job out of college, my regional director left on maternity leave four months in and I was covering communications for three countries alone, producing an annual report in three languages. That's more or less been the pattern since: someone leaves, the work is still there, and I build the system that gets it done.
At 24 I started a video production company because I wanted to make videos. What I learned was B2B sales, hiring, cash flow, and how to run overlapping projects without losing a client. Seven years, 500+ projects, Samsung and the UN on the client list. Then I moved to Texas in July 2020, mid-pandemic, on one of the few flights still flying.
I'd always wanted to be closer to where things get made, which is why Apple was the job I wanted most. Since the move: Apple, Target, Apple again, and now an Executive MBA at McCombs.
What I'm good at is seeing a process through the lens of risk — where it will break, who it will frustrate, what step nobody needs — and making it run better. Underneath that is the thing I've always done: see the story in a business. It's why I started a production company. When people get to know a company from the human side, they come to it on their own, because they can see what it stands for.
